Your Influencing Goal

This tool helps participants understand how they naturally influence others and apply those insights to real situations. Through a short self-assessment across nine influencing styles, users identify their strongest approaches, reflect on their impact, and consider how others prefer to be influenced. They then apply these insights to a current priority and create a practical, personalized influence plan.

List up to three key priorities where you need to apply influence this month.

External (clients, prospects, partners) or internal (colleagues, leadership, other teams).

Understanding Your Influencing Styles

This reflection shows you the influencing styles you naturally lead with, and how to use those strengths with greater authenticity, intention, and impact.

How this works

  1. 1RespondThirty-six short statements on how you tend to influence. About five minutes.
  2. 2See your profileYour scores across all nine styles, strongest first.
  3. 3Explore your strengthsWhat your leading styles offer, and how they show up with external and internal stakeholders, and personally.
  4. 4Put it to workApply it to a real conversation that matters.

This is a reflection and self-assessment. There is no single style you are. Most people lead with several, and after the assessment it is worth continuing to reflect on the styles that others respond to.

The nine influencing styles

Each is a distinct route through which people are influenced. You will see which you lead with once you have responded.

Influencing Styles Self-Assessment

For each statement, choose the score that best reflects how you behave when you set out to influence someone. Answer honestly rather than aspirationally; the honest picture is the useful one.

Your influencing profile

A snapshot of how you currently influence, not a verdict on ability.

Your full profile

All nine, ranked by how readily you reach for each. Each style is scored out of 16, from its four statements.

Preferences shift with the person, the pressure, and the situation. A leading style is not always the right one, and a less-used style is a route to explore, not a weakness.
